Edel Rodriguez | Artist Research

I found Edel by accident while looking up illustrators and reading blogs in my spare time and instantly loved his work. He often works with bold colours and intriguing scenes to create a appealing images. I particularly loved the three illustrations he created below all featuring bright reds and 2d silhouette style subject matter which inspired me to try this style. I find his use of different textures interesting and add an almost gory effect, especially in the third illustration. He has used a circular pattern in both he first and second illustrations which I find really separates the sections of the image nicely I.E the hens body to the beak and legs. Like the researched book covers I looked at previously, I like the idea of using red to go with the theme of the Irish Civil War.
