Moving on from my original idea of using gold leaf or foiling I spoke to Miriam about how I could improve my illustrations. She mentioned how I had used copper leaf on the front page and how it might look better using it throughout the booklet, compared to have gold in random pages. As well as, using copper foil onto of the flowers on the back pages.
After foiling the pages with copper that needed to be foiled I could instantly see how much this improved the booklet. The piece felt more complete and looked looked seamless. Also, the gold foil seamed to leave residue behind on the black paper which gave it a gritty or dirty appearance, when I wanted it to look clean and sleek.
The paper I used was Hairy Manilla for six of the illustration and a white card for the illustration that had foiling on them. I liked the vintage texture that the Hairy Manilla gave and felt it worked well with the royal theme. The white card helped to make the copper foiling stand out and helped make the booklet flow more as a sample/look book.
For a few of the illustrations I used tracing paper with printed designs on them to show how a dress can be altered and to represent the growing popularity for two-piece wedding gowns. As well as, the possibility of having add-ons onto the gown.
